Applying to Rice

Thank you for your interest in Rice University's Graduate Programs. To apply to a graduate program at Rice, first consult the department website for your area of interest.  There you'll learn about the department's programs, faculty, and research.

Admission to graduate study at Rice depends on students' previous academic records, available test scores, and letters of reference from scholars under whom they have studied.  Writing samples, portfolios, or statements of purpose also may be required. 

In general you will be required to submit an application, official transcript from previous institution, and a $85 non-refundable application fee.  Many departments also request additional materials such as GRE scores, statements of purpose, and letters of recommendation. The online application, as well as specific application requirements, can be found on department websites.
